An entheogen is any p$ych0active substance—usually from plants, fungi, or natural sources—that is used in a spiritual, religious, or shamanic context to promote healing, insight, or a sense of connection with the divine.

The word comes from the Greek roots:

entheos = "full of the divine, inspired, possessed by a god" &

So, an entheogen is a substance that “generates the divine within.”
